Sorry for the blog absence.  I didn't realize that it had been so long since I last posted.  I have been working on lots of canvases trying to fill up my etsy shop and to get ready for craft fair season.  So here are a few pictures of what I have been up to (it's picture heavy sorry:).  Enjoy!!

I call her a world traveler

I finished up a canvas today.  Hubs had given me some old flight maps from his work and I wanted to incorporate it on a canvas somehow.  So I decided to cover the whole background with it and then add my girl.  It all started with the fun buns on her head.  I had that in mind from the beginning and went from there.  I think this is my all time favorite girl I have made.  I don't know if I will be able to part with her or not.

 

Scarlet Lime December Kit

Yesterday I spent the day working in my studio doing some things that I wanted to do.  One was trying to figure out what in the heck I could do with my Scarlet Lime Mixed Media kit for December.  I was stumped.  Thankfully Christy posted a video of what she did and I ADORED it.  It really made me realize that I do need to look at things from other angles and touch it.  I just sat looking at the configurations box and thinking to myself what in the heck am I going to do with that.  Little did I know (or really little did I think) to turn the boxes around.  I had taken a class from her last year where she used all different sizes of canvases and did a different collage on each one, and this one was no different.  I did copy her almost to everything, but sometimes that just happens.  You can think differently of me, but it's just the way it is with this one:)  Here are a few of the finished pictures.

Photo A Day

I saw lots of photos last year documenting a photo a day....I always thought it would be fun and a challenge at the same time.  I just never jumped on the wagon.  This coming year I am doing it.  It's time to start documenting more.  So one of the many things I am doing is going to take a photo a day.  I even want to do it for myself and for j.man  Watching him grow up so fast is killing me and I need to start getting those memories scrapped and written down.  I won't remember them forever.

Lotus Flower

I started on a canvas wednesday thinking it would take me a while to get it on the canvas what I had in my head.  Little did I know that it all worked out and today it is done.  It did take a few twists and turns, mostly with paint colors.  While the magenta, green, and blue stayed, the gold and turquoise are all underneath cozy under the other lovely paints.  I really like how it turned out, condsidering this is really my first big canvas (24x24) that I have done using nothing but paints.  I think there will be more of these in my future. 

I've been painting

The other day I had an old canvas that I had just splattered some paint on and thought it would be something I fantastic.  Well, we all know sometimes things don't work out as planned.  So I covered it with lots of paint and gesso and came up with this.

So this it what happened after slapping more paint on it.  Much better, prettier colors, and I love it (if I say so myself).  The finished size is 4x12.  I tend to work on smaller scale canvases, but at the moment I am working on a 24x24.  Wish me luck.  Going out later on to get an easel, working on it flat it way too hard.  You can find this canvas for sale in my etsy shop.

I'll post pics of the other canvas when it's all finished.  Just started on it today so it may take a bit before I post.  Till then...

 

 

 

Welcome

So how long has it taken me to get on the "blogging wagon"  Well, I would say about 5 years or so.  I thought long and hard about it and kept going back and forth.  I would start a post only to delete it cause who is going to read it anyways.  But even if no one reads it, I will have a diary of things that I accomplished, frustrations, fun and exciting happenings...I could go on , but you get the drift.  I wanted to get it started before the new year, one of my goals was to start a blog and keep it going in 2013.  I know it needs lot of work, but in the end.  I got it started and will work on it when I can.   So here are to new goals and a new year that is almost upon us.  Let's go!!
